Edith Gater was listed as the third most influential ceramic designer in the 1930s Pottery Gazette, alongside Charlotte Rhead and Suzie Cooper. Gater's work has not received the attention it perhaps should have as Deco ceramic collecting has grown but she remains an important figure and a Gater designed piece is a deco object of desire. This is a relatively rare piece.
The jug is handpainted with simple tulip shaped flowers on a dark blue ground. The orange handle and highlights really make it stand out. It has a slight lustre inside. It is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks.
Approx 18cm tall.
