This large vintage quilt in a colourful geometric floral pattern (6 foot x 5 foot 6 inch approx) was recovered in 1945 (we know this because they sewed their initials and the year on it, see photo). Inside is a very old handstiched quilt. We unpicked a section and had a look, the inside quilt is handstiched and wool filled and no, there was no hidden treasure! It was simply a recover of a worn quilt. the outer quilt is machine stitched. We know the previous owner, her mother recovered it and the inner quilt would have been either her grandmother's or great grandmother's. It's been in the same family for as long as she knew.
It is very heavy, weighing just over half a stone (over 3 kilo). If you like some heft to your bedding this is the one for you. It would also make great sound insulation mounted on a wall (for the parents of teenage drummers).
Our vintage quilts and blankets are very thoroughly hand laundered by us and then dried outdoors so they also have a good airing and a dose of Welsh sunshine.
The price includes UK P&P
The beautiful setting is Laugharne, home of the poet Dylan Thomas.
