Yellow/green crystalline and brown hares fur glaze small ceramic vessel. Height 10.5cm
Simon trained at Aldermaston pottery under Alan Caiger-Smith between 1965 and 1969 before going on to establish Narberth pottery in Pembrokeshire in 1972. He is known particularly for his technical glazing expertise. This porcelain vessel is decorated with a crystalline glaze produced by melting sand, soda ash, alumina, zinc and flint into a glass compound and mixing with metal oxides in precise quantities. Both the glazing and firings are skilled and complex processes.
